There is a planned power outage scheduled to begin at 12:01 AM on Saturday 4/6/2024. This outage is to replace high voltage transmission equipment and to perform preventative maintenance on the substation by the High School. Part of the process will require us to de-energize the City to disconnect the substation for the work to begin. The City will be reenergized once the disconnect has been completed. Once the equipment replacement has been complete, the City will again be de-energized for the substation to be reconnected. The City will be reenergized when the reconnect is complete. The output side of the substation will then remain shutdown for other work to be completed. All outages will cease and power restored no later than 8:00 AM that morning.

The attached document has the best and most relevant information for our customers concerning this outage. We do not have exact times or time frames of when the city-wide outages will take place or to predict when power will be completely restored. A lot of the timing will be reliant upon the successful completion of the necessary work and a lack of surprises.

There is no way in which we could avoid having to take citywide outages for the disconnect and reconnect. It is not a common situation to encounter and through the years of building up the City’s power system there was never a foreseen need or scenario where equipment would be needed to accommodate taking a substation offline at its input structure without interrupting everything.

We have also rolled out a Price City Power text message notification system that our customers can register for by sending “power” to (435)636-3166 then follow the prompts to complete registration. In preparation of the outage, we will send a message to all who have registered that will contain a link to our live Power update page. The link will work all night long. We will then send a short message out shortly before each of the city-wide outages and another when the outage has ended. Elected officials, directors, and other city employees may and are encouraged to register on this system even if they do not receive power services from Price City.
