Nelda Joan Grundy, 70, of Price, Utah passed away on March 30th, 2024, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Her last moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Nelda was born on April 15th, 1953, to Boyd and Sophie Harvey. She graduated from Carbon High in 1971 where she was a cheerleader and honor student.
Most of her professional life was spent as a secretary at Mont Harmon Jr. High. She enjoyed working with the teachers, and loved the students like they were her own. She later went on to work for Carbon School District and retired in 2016.
Nelda was a devout member of the LDS Church and held various callings. She loved serving her Heavenly Father, cooking, yellow roses, generosity, good food, autumn, acts of service, a good book, her husband Ed, gift giving, talking on the phone, having faith, soft blankets, gerbera daisies, Diet Pepsi, family, hosting holiday parties, the smell of new babies, shopping, worrying, laughter, her dog Maddie, Neil Diamond and Christmas.
She poured her heart and soul into her family and friends and would jump at any opportunity to serve others. She was the life of the party and touched the lives of so many people. One of her favorite past times was spent with her friends in The Buddy Group, The Dinner Group, and The Beta Group. She loved each of you so much. Known for her infectious laugh and giving heart, Nelda was a kind, brave, caring, and generous Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Nelda is preceded in death by her parents, Boyd Harvey and Sophie Mangus Harvey; her sister, Jody Lynn Harvey; and her brother, David Boyd Harvey.
Nelda is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Edward Thomas Grundy; her children, Christopher Boyd (Natalie) Grundy, Joelle Grundy, Stef Grundy, and Blake Edward Grundy; her stepchildren, Michael Grundy, Tomas Grundy, and James Grundy; her grandchildren, Carson, Raegan, Luke, Stella & Emree Grundy; her sister, Susan Harvey; as well as many other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4th, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at the Westwood Ward Chapel (175 N 1280 W, Price, UT 84501). Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main, Price, UT 84501) Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m and at the church Thursday morning, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Cliffview Cemetery in Price.
