The HOPE Squad of Carbon, Emery, and Grand Counties will be hosting a Spill the Tea on Mental Health Brunch & Tea Party on Sunday, Apr. 21. This event will be held at the Carbon Country Club at 3055 North Highway 50-6 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Suicide Prevention Specialist, Amanda McIntosh to get all the details.

The target audience for this event is cosmetologists, barbers and nail technicians who work with people on the daily as they listen to their clients share stories. “So we are offering this Spill the Tea on Mental Health and free brunch and tea party, up at the Carbon Country Club on Sunday, Apr. 21 beginning at 10:00 am, to do a QPR – Question, Persuade, and Refer for these cosmetologists, these beauticians, these barbers, in our community so that they can serve their clients with just one more service,” said McIntosh. The free QPR training takes about 90 minutes. It will teach you common symptoms of depression, how to questions someone’s suicidal ideation. Persuade them to live and to get help, and to whom and when one should refer them to local resources.

Event organizers mailed out invitations to all cosmetologists, barbers and nail technicians so be expecting those. “We are requesting that people RSVP by simple sending me an email at amcintosh@utah.gov so that we can again have a head count for Mykell up there at the Country Club – she’s amazing, huge shout out to her. That way we can make sure we have enough food,” said McIntosh. The sponsors for this event are Southeast Health Department, HOPE Squad of Carbon, Emery, and Grand Counties and the Carbon Country Club.
