On April 10, 2024, at the age of 80 years young, Sharon Rae Peretti Carroll, our beautiful and beloved mother, nanny, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend received her heavenly wings ending her earthly journey. Mom quickly took flight into heaven where she was reunited with our heavenly father, and the love of her life Jim Carroll, along with all her beloved family members and friends who passed before her.
On August 11, 1943, Sharon was born to Larry and Afton Boyack Peretti in Hiawatha, Utah. She spent much of her younger years living in Hiawatha where she would reminisce about the outdoor games they would play and the dances in the dance hall they would attend. It was through her stories we got a glimpse into her unique personality and learned how strong willed, fiercely independent, feisty and intelligent she was as a child and how these same attributes continued to grow with her throughout her teen years, adult years and successful career.
She attended and graduated from Carbon High School. While attending Carbon High School she met her best friend, high school sweetheart, love of her life and our father. She had many good friends from high school that she continued to spend time with throughout her lifetime, and in her later years she looked forward to spending time with the girls at their luncheon outings and at times with other more adventurous outings.
In May of 1962 Sharon married her high school sweetheart and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Through the union of their love, they were blessed with two daughters, Tami and Lisa. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, mom had many church callings and one of them she cherished the most was her time spent as a ministering sister.
Mom took great pride with her family; she always had a warm dinner on the table at the same time every evening so the family could gather around the dinner table and talk about how their day went. She and Jim loved spending quality time with family and friends in the outdoors. From spring to fall most weekends were spent camping, fishing, and hunting. During the winter months, the weekends were spent snowmobiling, sledding, ice skating and skiing; it was the skiing she enjoyed the most as she excelled at it.
When the family started to grow, she was happiest when she was able to spend time with her daughters and their families, which included five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mom always looked forward to adventurous trips, which took place with trips including Disneyland, Disneyworld, Hawaii, and traveling to watch ball games, soccer games, dance recitals, cheerleading events, and violin recitals. Mom also enjoyed spending time teaching family members how to sew and sewing blankets together with them. In addition to sewing, she enjoyed baking Christmas cookies together and of course attending the all-famous tea parties, where she held the title of the matriarch or queen bee, whichever name she chose for the event.
She worked for over 35 years in the banking industry. She began as a bank teller with First Federal Savings and Loan who later changed the bank name to Washington Federal Savings and Loan. Throughout her career she worked in multiple positions to include being a loan officer and then becoming the assistant vice president and bank manager.
Mom is survived by her daughters, Tami (Paul) Hoffman, Lisa (Steve) Procarione; brother, Mickey (Chris) Peretti; brother-in-law, DeVere (Sue) Smith; grandchildren, Lindsay (Juan) Echeverria, Stephanie (Skip) Henrie, Jake (Ashley) Hoffman, Justin (Valerie) Procarione, Tyler (Gracie) Procarione; 10 great-grandchildren and many wonderful loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jim Carroll; parents, Larry and Afton Peretti; sister, Patsy (Stan) Jonnson; mother-in-law, Melva Keele Carroll; and many cherished grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Symbii Home Health for the excellent care they gave to our feisty and fun little Italian mother.
