The Emery boy’s and girl’s track teams traveled to Nephi to take part in the Juab Invitational. Both teams had a fairly successful meet claiming third-place finishes.

The host Juab Wasps earned the top spot for the boys with 198.5 points. Canyon View came in second scoring 158. Emery and Carbon finished the day third and fourth.

Mathew Olsen earned a pair of first-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. In the 110 he finished in a time of 15.97, and in the 300 he crossed the finish with a time of 41.79, Boston Huntington was close behind in fourth. Creek Sharp finished second in the 100 and third in the 200.

In distances Camdon Larsen claimed first with a time of 2:03.5 in the 800, Jack Christiansen finished third, and Mason Hurdsman fifth. Larsen would claim another top finish in the 1600 turning in a time of 4:43.34, Champ Justice came in third. Dillion Larsen earned the top spot in the 3200 with his time of 10:27.56, and Jacob Erikson was in fifth.

The team of Christiansen, Larsen, Huntington, and Hurdsman earned a second-place finish in the 4×400 relay.

Olsen was a force in field events as well, earning a first-place finish in the high jump with Huntington taking third. Olsen would also finish in fifth in the long jump.

On the girl’s side, Canyon View claimed the top spot with 196 points, and Carbon took second with 180. Emery was in third with 130 and Juab finished in fourth.

The 4×400 relay team of Addie Hurst, Addy Guymon, Molly Christiansen, and Gentry Christiansen turned in a time of 4:15.85. In distances, Guymon took first in the 800 turning in her time of 2:26.76, Gentry Christiansen finished in third. Hurst took fifth in the 1600, Gentry Christiansen and Molly Christiansen finished second and fifth in the 400.

Kabree Gordon earned second-place finishes in both the 100 and 300 hurdles and Carlie Hurst took fifth place in the 300 hurdles.  Abby Morris earned a fifth in the 100.

In field events, Megan Stilson earned a first-place finish in the high jump, Morris was in second. Morris also claimed fourth in the javelin. Alexis Mcarther finished second in the discus and the shot put and Dazi Thatcher finished fourth in both events.

Emery will prepare to compete at the Eastern Utah Championships on Friday at Carbon High.
