The Lady Dino softball squad was back on the field on Tuesday when they traveled to Duchesne to take on the Eagles. The Lady Dinos had a hard time finding offense and lost the game 7-0.
The loss moves the Lady Dinos to 10-10 on the season and 7-2 in region play moving them to the No. 7 spot in the RPI with just a few games remaining on the schedule. The postseason is not that far off, the final RPI will be released on May 1, and the first round starts on May 4.
The game was all Duchesne early as they put five runs on the board in the first two innings. Carbon could find no answers for the Eagles pitching and only gathered two hits in the game. Carbon also committed four errors in the contest that accounted for one run and positioned the Eagles for more. Carbon couldn’t get past Duchesne’s defense in the field as pitcher Laurissa Mower only struck out one Carbon batter and let her teammates back her up.
The Lady Dinos were able to collect two hits in the loss off the bats of Brielle Sandoval and Danica Adams.
Kylan Sorenson got the start for the Dinos and the loss, going 4.1 innings giving up seven runs, two earned on six hits, and striking out 3. Adams came in giving up just one hit and fanned two.
The Dinos will need to have a short memory with the Morgan Trojans coming to town on Wednesday. Morgan is the No.2 team in 3A with a record of 12-5. These two teams clashed last weekend in Payson with the Trojans taking the 2-1 win.
Game time is set for 3:00 p.m..
