The Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife is hosting their annual banquet for Carbon/Emery County residents on Saturday, Apr. 20 starting at 5:30 pm at the Carbon County Event Center on Fairgrounds Road. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Co-Chairman, Shayne Thompson to get all the details.

The Sportsman for Fish and Wildlife organization has been around for several years. “We have been up and rolling for over 30 years, we’ve been an organization throughout the state, we do fundraisers all over the state to enhance habitat, wildlife, and show the important role the hunters put out in conservation and hunting and fishing. That’s one thing we do, we don’t focus on just one species, we do all species – small game, big game, fishing,” stated Thompson. The organization does habitat projects, shares hunting information with the youth and families throughout the state. “That’s what we focus on, we try to get the youth involved in so many hunts and do so many things with the youth and try to keep our family tradition rolling, and continue doing that for sure. That’s one of our main projects is getting our youth involved and keeping the family together,” said Thompson. There will be a dinner served, fundraising, drawings, games and prizes will be awarded throughout the evening’s event.
