The Carbon boys were back on the pitch Wednesday when they traveled to face the No.1 Manti Templars. The Dinos were riding high on a six-game winning streak, but the Templars are undefeated this season, and they stayed that way handing Carbon their second loss this season, 2-0.

Manti has had the Dinos number as they earned wins in both meetings. Back in March, in Price, they handed Carbon a 4-0 loss, and then Carbon went 6-0, until they met up with Manti again.

Wednesday’s match was all about the Templar defense. Carbon was turned away at every opportunity, as Manti’s David Peterson and Branson Cherry combined for the shut between the pipes and Manti claimed the 2-0 win in front of their home crowd.

The loss drops Carbon to 10-2 this season overall and in Region 12 play. It also puts them in second place behind the Templars in the conference. The removal of the RPI means that the season is winding down. The Dinos have just a pair of games left on the schedule before the final RPI reveal and the release of the 3A State Championship bracket on April 24, with the playoffs starting two days later on the 26.

Carbon travels to Castle Dale on Friday to face the Emery Spartans. In their first meeting, the Dinos claimed the 4-0 win.

Gametime is set for 4:00 p.m..
