The Carbon Lady Dino softball team may have had a bit of revenge in mind on Wednesday when the No. 2 Morgan Trojans came to Price. Just four days earlier, these two teams shared the field with Morgan coming out on top. This time around, Carbon was ready as they handed the Trojans the 10-5 loss.
Last weekend the Lady Dinos faced the Trojans in tournament play in Payson with Morgan taking the 2-1 win. Carbon used that previous meeting to take control in this one early putting up five runs in the first two innings.
In the bottom of the second with the score 1-0 with one out, Adri Abeyta stepped up to the plate and sent a grounder to the shortstop, and was able to reach on an error, while Samantha Riddle and Sage Vea scored to put the score at 3-0. The next batter up was Kylan Sorenson hit into a fielder’s choice, Abeyta and Sorenson would both score on an error, closing out the inning 5-0. The Lady Dinos would tack on five more runs and gave up five to the Trojans to take the 10-5 win and move to 11-10 on the season.
Abeyta collected three hits, scored three runs, and had two RBIs for Carbon. Brailee Peterson had a pair of hits to go with her two RBIs and scored two runs. Vea and Riddle each had a pair of hits with a run scored, Vea added an RBI in the win.
Adams was in the circle for the Dinos getting the complete game win giving up 10 hits, five runs, four earned, and striking out four.
Carbon is sitting at 11-10 overall and holds the No.7 spot in the RPI.
Up next is a trip to Manti (9-12, No.12) on Friday.
