027-2

On Friday, the Dino baseball squad was on the field to take on the Juab Wasps. Juab is one of the top teams in 3A along with the Dinos. Carbon struck first and had a pair of great performances on the mound, but the Wasps came back to tie it up and pushed the contest to the tenth where they added one more taking the 4-3 win over Carbon.

Carbon moves to 11-7 overall and a 6-4 Region 12 mark, they also sit in the No.3 spot in the RPI.

In the first inning, Jace Barlow was at the plate as Peyton Molinar would steal home, and then in the next at-bat, Cameron Vasquez hit into a fielder’s choice bringing Maizen Prichard home and giving the Dinos the 2-0 lead.

In the third inning with the score tied at two, Prichard would score from second on an error to take a 3-2 lead.

Juab would tie it back up in the fourth and then both teams would go quiet at the plate for the next five innings as Prichard and Molinar combined to give up just three hits until the top of the tenth when Juab was able to score on an error, and then held the Dinos scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to take the 4-3 win.

Prichard had a great day on the mound in the loss going six innings giving up three runs, one earned on three hits and striking out 12. Molinar went four with two hits and gave up a run striking out six.
