
Kylan Sorenson had a great day in the circle and at the plate when they traveled to Manti to face the Templars. Sorenson collected four RBIs and struck out nine in Carbon’s 14-2 win.
Carbon moved to 12-10 this season overall and holds an 8-2 Region 12 mark. They also hold the No. 7 spot in the RPI.
The Lady Dinos started quietly putting up one run in the first inning, and then went quiet until the fourth when Adri Abeyta sent a single to short driving in Danica Adams. Sorenson was up next and with another single, this time to right Sage Vea and Shayla Penovich would score to push the lead to 4-0.
Penovich came up to bat in the fifth sending a triple to right driving in Adams and Vea, and moving the score to 8-0, then in the sixth Taylor Secor stepped up with Brailee Peterson on third and sent a home run shot to left field, getting the score to 11-0.
Manti would add two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and Carbon scored three in the top of the seventh, and then in the bottom of the inning the Lady Dinos shut the door on the Templars taking the 14-2 win.
Sorenson had a day with four hits, two runs scored, and four RBIs at the plate, she also got the start earning the complete game win giving up five hits, two runs, and struck out nine.
Abeyta had three hits and scored three runs and an RBI. Secor had a pair of hits three RBIs and scored one. Adams and Penovich each had a pair of hits, two runs scored while Adams had one RBI and Penovich added two.
The Lady Dinos return on the field Tuesday when Richfield comes to town.
