The Emery Spartan baseball team traveled to Richfield last Tuesday and struggled through a tough 13-12 loss. Friday the Wildcats came to town and the Spartans were ready to return the favor taking the 10-0 win in region play.

Sitting at 14-9 the Spartans are down to the final week of the regular season with two games against the No.3 Carbon Dinos. Emery sits in the No. 6 spot in the RPI.

Friday the Spartans were locked and loaded as they jumped out quickly when Turner Stoker came up to the plate at the bottom of the first with two outs, and two on and sent a line drive single to center bringing in Hayden Christiansen and Wade Stilson to push the Emery lead to 3-0.

With two outs in the bottom of the second and the score 4-0, things got crazy again as Trevin Gilbert stepped up to the plate and stared down a wild pitch that allowed Stilson and Christiansen to score and give Emery a 6-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth Kade Larsen stepped up to the plate with Mason Stilson on third, and sent one deep over the wall in left field. Turner Stoker came up in the bottom of the fifth and sent his fourth pitch to left for a solo home run, taking the score to 9-0, Emery added one more run in the sixth off of a Gilbert sacrifice fly that scored Wade Stilson to end the game early at 10-0.

Stoker collected a pair of hits with a run scored and three RBIs. Mason Stilson had one hit and scored three, Christiansen had one hit and scored twice, and Larsen had one hit, scored one, and drove one in.

Wade Stilson was on the mound and earned the complete game win giving up just one hit while striking out 10.

The Spartans are back on the field Tuesday when they welcome the Carbon Dinos to Castle Dale on what will be Senior Night.

Game time is set to begin at 3:00 p.m..
