It’s time to catch up with Elmo City Mayor James Winn, who took time from his busy schedule to speak over the telephone with Castle Country Radio about city clean up, upcoming city-wide road project and Horse & Buggy Days.
The city is preparing for their annual city wide clean up set to take place May 1 through May 18. “For the first few weeks of May we are doing a town clean-up, we’ll have some extra dumpsters out at our dumpster area, and also, extended hours or we’ll have it open more than just the days we have right now. So probably during the week we’ll have it open during the day to have people take their stuff, and dump it, so it’s available for people to use,” explained Mayor Winn. This is a great time for residents to do some Spring Cleaning around their homes and yards.
There will be a city-wide road project taking place this summer and residents are urged to move trailers and other vehicles off the roadways during this time. “That’s going to happen this summer I don’t have the exact dates we’re pretty much chipping all the roads in town, it’s our year to do that, so we need to put our trailers and stuff off the road if possible so that when that does come around, we don’t’ have to hold things up,” stated Mayor Winn. Further details on the road project will be shared as it becomes available.
Finally, the city is preparing for another Horse & Buggy Days celebration this year. “Yes, we are headed there, second weekend in August and we have our Public Hearing this next Town Meeting in May for our budget, so we’ll talk about Horse & Buggy Days and have plans for that doing that as well,” said Mayor Winn. If you would like to be a part of the Horse & Buggy Days celebration, contact Town Hall.
