Keep your home and community safe by disposing of unused and expired medications, syringes, or vape devices at the Carbon & Emery Prescription Take Back Day on Saturday, Apr. 27 from noon to 2:00 pm at two different events held in Carbon and Emery Counties.
“So we have two locations, we have one in Price at the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office. We also have one in Green River at the Green River Medical Center also on Main Street in Green River. Come out dispose of your medications and grab some lunch on us,” stated USU Extension’s Dr. Ashley Yaugher. The first 40 people in Price will be given a free meal from the Navajo Taco Food Truck and the first 30 people in Green River will get a $10.00 certificate to the Tamarisk Restaurant.
Many folks think that Prescription Take Back is for opioids only but that is not true. “Any unused or expired medication whether it be prescribed or just over-the-counter, its can be pill packs, it can be liquids, allergy medication, Advil, old Tylenol – right? Just don’t flush that stuff, bring it back and let it be properly disposed of by the DEA,” said Dr. Yaugher. New this year, guests can also dispose of syringes and vape devices during the event.
“If you don’t make it to Take Back Day this time there are drop boxes all over Carbon and Emery Counties as well. You can look those up and find them anytime of year so you can go to https://www.dea.gov/takebackday and they have a whole list of places that you can find,” said Dr. Yaugher. Most law enforcement agencies will have drop boxes available at their facility.
