Carbon High School track and field were back at it on Wednesday, this time in Castle Dale for the Darrell Gardner Invitational. With 12 schools from around the region participating Carbon took the top spot in both divisions.

The boys scored 138 points to claim the top spot, followed by Richfield in second with 129. South Sevier, host team Emery, and Altamont made up the remainder of the top five.

Easton Humes got things started for the Dinos with a first place finsih in the 400 turning in his time of 51.35, Maxwell Carlson would finish third in the race. In the 110-meter hurdles Riley Palmer finished second with Carter Branch in third. The Carbon trio of Bradley Sweeney, Branch, and Palmer went three, four, and five in the 300-meter hurdles.

In distances, Evan Criddle took third in both the 1600 and 3200, Michael Weber came in fourth in the 3200 as well. The sprint relay team of Dallon Humes, Weber, Cesar Mondaca Valenzuela, and Kolton Finch ran to a second place finish, and in the 4×100, Marco Monari, Kayden Vasquez, Benjamin Simms, and Brayden Jensen claimed third.

Branch would place third in the high jump with Traxton Jewkes finishing in fourth, and Dexter Packard finished fifth in the long jump.

For the girl’s side, Carbon scored 126.5 to claim first, Emery would finish second with 120. Richfield, South Sevier, and North Sevier rounded out the top five.

In three relays the Lady Dinos claimed three top two finishes. Jordan Shorts, Mia Crompton, Amiah Timothy, and Blythe Bradford took the top spot in the 4×100 with a time of 51.16. Bradford, Rebecca Swasey, Sophia Taylor, and Gianna White ran their way to a second place finish in the 4×400, and in the sprint relay Lilly Peterson, Stella Smith, McKenzie Fredrickson, and Ellile Hanson finished in second as well.

Distances are still good to Carbon, with Taylor earning a first place finish in the 800 in a time of 2:34.25, Taylor also took second in the 1600. Hanson turned in a time of 13:31.80 to take first in the 3200, Kaylee Pitcher finished third. White took second in the 400.

Crompton and Bradford claimed third and fourth respectively in the 100. McKinlie Sharp finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, and Rebecca Swasey took third in the 300-meter hurdles. Crompton also claimed third place in the 200.

In field events Bradford earned first place in the long jump and Jordan Shorts finished second.

The Dinos head back to it on Saturday when they travel to the Delta Invitational.
