
With just a handful of track meets left before the end of the season, the Emery Spartans invited schools from around the region to Castle Dale for the Darrell Gardner Invitational. With 12 schools in attendance, the Lady Spartans finished in second with the boy’s team taking fourth.
Carbon earned the top spot on the girls’ side with 126.5 points, Emery finished second with 120. Richfield, South Sevier, and North Sevier rounded out the top five.
Skylee Guymon had a day for the Lady Spartans with a top finish in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.71, and Carlie Hurst finished in fourth. Guymon also took second in the 200. In the 100, Abby Morris finished in second with Guymon in fifth. Megan Stilson ran to a fourth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Addy Guymon claimed fourth in the 400, and Addie Hurst grabbed fifth in the 800. Gentry Christiansen earned another top finish for the Lady Spartans with her time of 5:26.67 in the 1600, and Melody Lake finished fourth in the 3200.
In the 4×400 relay, the team of Addie Hurst, Addy Guymon, Christiansen, and Skylee Guymon crossed the finish line first with a time of 4:14.31. Addie Hurst, Kylee Willis, Carley Young, and Lisa Saidinra earned third, and in the 4×100, Dazi Thatcher, Alexis Morgan, Alexis McArthur, and Tatum Jensen came in fifth.
In field events, three Lady Spartans claimed the top five spots in the high jump, Megan Stilson was second, Abby Morris third, and Lizzy Roberts fifth. Morgan earned fourth in the shot put.
Carbon also claimed first on the boy’s side with 138 points, and Richfield finished second with 129. South Sevier, Emery, and Altamont comprised the rest of the top five.
Creek Sharp earned two top finishes in the 100 with a time of 11.09 and in the 200 turning in a time of 23.15. Dillon Larsen crossed the finish line in the 1600 in second, Champ Justice finished the race in fifth.
In relays, the team of Boston Huntington, Porter Hurdsman, Sharp, and Matthew Olsen earned a second-place finish while the Emery team of Jamison Christiansen, Camdon Larsen, Dillon Larsen, and Justice finished fourth in the sprint relay.
Huntington took first in the high jump, Trek Petersen finished fifth. Huntington also earned fourth in the shot put.
Emery will head back to the track on Saturday for the Nebo Invitational in Spanish Fork.
