The USU Extension Office – Carbon County recently hired a new 4-H Coordinator because DeLayna Barr has left the area so that opened up her position. Castle Country Radio had the opportunity to sit down with the newly hired 4-H Coordinator, Sarah Weese to get to know her better.
“I was born and raised in Southern California, then I lived in Durango, Colorado for a few years getting my undergraduate. Then some how I ended up in Price, Utah getting my Master’s in Social Work,” said Weese. She is still currently working on her Master’s Degree through Utah State and should be done by next year.
What drew her to the 4-H Coordinator position was that it would allow her to work with children. “I’ve always wanted to work with kids. I just love working with them. I think they help me develop myself and themselves at the same time. 4-H offers a lot of things that people don’t know about like we offer leadership qualities, but also offering like crafts and stuff like that so I just think there are a bunch of things in the pot that just help it,” said Weese. Currently, she is working on the details for the Day Camp that will be held in June.
She is looking forward to working with the various clubs that are already established as well as developing some new ones too. “4-H is all about the volunteers and the parents, they’re the ones running the show, I’m just there to help them. I think that’s like the best part about it is they get to basically choose and they give me the ideas, I kind of just take that information and I help coordinate. So I think a little bit of both, keeping tradition in what’s going right now and what’s working and then probably adding some more things,” stated Weese. She is excited to be able to work with the families in Carbon County and is looking forward to sharing all the information about summer programs in the coming weeks.
