The 17th Annual Castle Country Rock, Fossil, Mineral Show is set to take place on Friday, Jun. 7 and Saturday, Jun. 8 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Event Coordinator, Patrick Braun to get all of the show’s details.

Each year the event fills up very quickly with vendors from all over and this year the show hit its capacity. “Some of the vendors have been doing it, doing the show with us from day one. This is our seventeenth year or so, 17 years together and it kind of feels like yesterday that we started and here we are with some of the same vendors, but also some new vendors, so we’re also excited for that,” said Braun. The free annual event is held each year out at the Carbon County Event Center at 450 South Fairgrounds Road in Price.

Guests will have an opportunity to speak with the vendors about their displays, plus observe several demonstrations throughout the show. “We really enjoy when people bring things in to the show, like what is this, you know, we found this on the desert, we where out there with our family, what is this? Usually someone in the show knows what that is or knows a history of the area where they found it. Its fun. Its fun to get to know, new people, new faces, and of course to see old friends,” said Braun. The rock community is very close-knit bunch as they travel throughout year and meet up at various shows in the state or region.

Vendors will be selling all sorts of items like rocks, fossils, minerals, crystals, and especially stones for jewelry making. “If you’re into cutting and polishing your own stones you’re going to find rough rock or slabs of rock or finished stones to set in your own jewelry. You know at our shop in Castle Dale we get a lot of people looking for that. Then at the show it’s in a bigger scale, where people are saying I need stones for my jewelry, where do I get them. Well, this show, this is where to get them,” stated Braun.
