John was born to Lois and James Albert “Doc” Brinkley in Dragerton, Utah on April 8th, 1955. His siblings are Kenneth “Corky” (Marion) Brinkley, Sandra and Larry Westbrook, Karen and Jerry Stillson, Sherri Allen, and Shawna (Justin) Lehman.
John always spoke fondly of growing up in the Dragerton and Sunnyside communities. He especially enjoyed his school years. He graduated from East Carbon High School with a chance to attend college, but chose instead to work in the Kaiser (later Sunnyside) Coal Mine. He was a very talented mechanic and machinist. After Sunnyside Mine closed, he finished his twenty years at Deer Creek. John also worked for TN Ranching for a number of years.
John and Debra Lynn Rich were married on October 4th, 1980. They built a wonderful life in Wellington on the Rich family farm. Together they had three boys, John Andrew Brinkley, James Arther Brinkley, and Jacob Alex (Emily) Brinkley. They were also blessed with seven grandchildren.
John enjoyed fast cars, 4-wheel drive trucks, and many outdoor activities; but above all, he was very loving and kind. John and Debra were the best of friends, and would often sit together in the evenings and ponder the day’s events, be it good or bad. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Lois and James “Doc” Brinkley; infant brother, James Lynn Brinkley; mother-in-law, Carol Adair Rich; brother-in-law, Jerry Stillson; sister-in-law, Marion Brinkley, and eldest son, John Andrew Brinkley.
Per John’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends and family may share memories of John online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
