The Emery Spartans spring sports season is coming to a close and that means post-season honors. The Utah High School Activities Association released their Academic All-State honors for student-athletes who not only excel on the playing field but in the classroom as well.

Aubrey Yost and Cheyenne Bingham were two members of the Lady Spartan golf team that received honors. The 3A State Golf Championships start on Wednesday at Meadowbrook Golf Course.

For the softball squad, Madi Bunnell and Morgan Luke both were given mentions. The Emery Lady Spartan softball teams get back into playoff action on Thursday when they face the Canyon View Falcons in Spanish Fork.

Chase Huggard was the lone member of the Spartan soccer team to make the list. Emery ended the season last Wednesday with a loss to Juab.

Emery Spartan baseball player Wade Stilson has excelled this season in every sport he has played and has earned Academic All-State honors on the diamond. The Spartans head back to the field on Tuesday when they face the Union Cougars.

Each sport and activity season, the UHSAA will open nominations through RegisterMyAthlete. Parents/students will enter their RegisterMyAthlete account and click on the Academic All-State tab to enter their unweighted cumulative high school GPA, and ACT/SAT score, and submit the nomination form. Schools will confirm the student-athlete is a varsity contributor, confirm the GPA and ACT/SAT score, verify the student is a senior, and upload a current transcript before submitting the nomination to the UHSAA by the specified deadline (View deadlines). The Academic All-State award will now be decided by either meeting an index score (View index) or having a 4.0 unweighted GPA.
