The Lady Dinos played in the first games in Spanish Fork on Thursday taking on the Morgan Trojans. in a contest that was anybody’s game until the top of the seventh, Carbon fell 2-1, dropping into the one-loss bracket.

Carbon entered the contest in the No. 5 spot with Morgan sitting at No. 4. Both teams had faced each other twice in April, winning one game each.

Carbon got on the board in the first when Danica Adams hit into a fielder’s choice bringing Kylan Sorenson home. Morgan put their two runs up in the bottom of the second and the rest of the game was an exercise in futility for both teams.

Each team would scatter singles throughout the remainder of the contest, but neither one could really assert dominance over the other. Both Carbon and Morgan had an almost identical box score as each team registered five hits but in the score column, the Lady Trojans came out on top taking the 2-1 win.

Sorensen had a pair of hits for the Lady Dinos and scored their only run. Brielle Sandoval, Samantha Riddle, and Adri Abeyta each registered a hit and Adams claimed the only RBI in the loss.

Adams took the loss in the circle for the Lady Dinos putting in a complete game giving up five hits, two earned runs, and six strikeouts.

The Lady Dinos get back on the diamond Thursday at 4:45 when they will face Union.
