The Orangeville city council met on Tuesday, May 7 for a special public meeting regarding the selection of a new mayor. This selection comes following the resignation of previous Orangeville Mayor David Robinson on April 11, 2024.
It was reported that only one application for the position had been received by City Recorder Amanda Lake, with the sole applicant being acting mayor pro temp Shaun Bell. Bell underwent a brief questioning period by the Council, before the motion to appoint Bell as mayor was made and unanimously approved by the Council.
Mayor Bell previously served as a deputy with the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, an educator at Emery High School and as a councilman with the Orangeville city council before he was appointed mayor.
