LaVon Meyer Kutkas, age 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Price, Utah on the evening of Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
LaVon was born on September 30, 1943, in Price, Utah to loving parents, Joseph and Lillian Jacobsen Meyer.
LaVon attended and graduated from Carbon High School in Price in 1961. Following graduation, she attended Carbon College. After her time attending college, she moved to California where she took a job with Koret of California; after a short time there she relocated back to Price to help the company grow and expand in Carbon County.
She married the love of her life, Herbert Kutkas on August 7, 1965, in Price, Utah. Together, they shared 55 years of wedded bliss until Herbert’s passing on December 5, 2020. Their lives were further enriched when they welcomed their only child, Toni Lee.
Throughout her life, LaVon loved nothing more than her family. She would do anything for them. Together, Herbert and LaVon lovingly cared for their beloved daughter, Toni Lee all the way up to her passing. They were amazing parents and made it possible to have Toni around all of those years.
LaVon will be missed by those that knew and loved her and a community of friends.
She is survived by her brother, Richard (Thelma) Meyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert Lee Kutkas; beloved daughter, Toni Lee; parents, Joseph and Lillian Jacobsen Meyer; in-laws, Anthony and Clarice Davis Kutkas; brothers, Lee, Jack, and Paul; and sisters, Fay and Flora.
Funeral service, Friday, May 17, 2024, 2:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Price City Cemetery where LaVon will be laid to rest next to her husband, Herbert and daughter, Toni.
