The planning committee for the Utah State University Eastern Town Ties event met on May 15, 2024, to discuss decisions made and potential ideas for the event.
The event, which takes place the Friday before the fall semester begins and has a Carnival theme, is designed to help USU Eastern students and their parents get acquainted with local businesses around campus that the students may patronize during their time in college.
Town Ties also allows businesses to advertise their services, including if they need employees, to students who are trying to adapt to their new college environment.
In the meeting, some of the ideas discussed included creating a hashtag for the event and implementing a new logo for the event. Other potential ideas included ways to thank local businesses for participating in the event.
The committee also floated ideas for incentivizing student participation, such as implementing a punch card that students could use to enter a drawing for prizes donated by local businesses.
The Town Ties event is on Friday, Aug. 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the USU Eastern Jennifer Leavitt Student Center Multipurpose Room.
