John Arlen Armstrong, age 73, better known as Chub, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Castleview Hospital on May 20, 2024.

His adventure began March 21, 1951 to John B. and Bernice LeFlore Armstrong. He wore many hats although being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was his favorite. Following in this dad and granddad’s footsteps, he began working in the King Coal Mines in Hiawatha, Utah. He married Helen Buttrey in Salt Lake City on September 30, 1970.

His greatest accomplishment and joy are his children, Ann and Chris. Upon the closure of the mine he moved his family to Price and there the adventure of truck driving began. He long-hauled and then stayed home working for Savage until his retirement.

Over the passing years he divorced and met and married Janet Twitchell on May 7, 2005. This union brought an even larger family. Papa Chub was always ready for anything! He loved camping, fishing, hunting, mechanics, and John Deere. With any adventure with the grand or great-grandkids you can bet he was the root of all shenanigans. Now that his adventure on earth is complete, we are happy to know that he has gone to “the perfect place, best in the world.” We love you forever!

John is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Ann and Dennis Milano, Chris and Brandie Armstrong, Becky and Jimmy Allen; siblings, Kathy Vance, Allen and Debbie Armstrong, Richard Armstrong; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice; wife, Helen; brother-in-law, Johnny; daughter, Courtney; grandson, Levi; and many other family and friends.
