Nettie Mae Jackson, born June 22, 1933 to Denzil James Jacobsen and Eva Christiansen, passed away on May 22, 2024.
Nettie was raised on her family’s ranch near Emery, Utah. They moved to town during the winter. She learned the value of hard work and was never idle. She married Melvin Marshall in 1954; together they had four children. They later divorced. She married Carl Jackson in 1980. Carl preceded Nettie in death in 2000.
Nettie was one of twelve children, but was closest to her brother, Coy. She told many stories of them getting into trouble together. She loved fishing, gardening, crocheting, and the outdoors. She would much rather do anything outside than housework.
The family wishes to express their special thanks to her wonderful neighbors, Linda and Russell Odle who were always there for her. Thanks to Dennis Mangum who came to her aide many times, and to Cathy Anderson who has looked after her plants for many months. Also, thanks to the nurses, physical therapists, and aides from Symbii and the Heirloom Inn.
Survived by her daughters, Cathy (Kenny) Gunter, Huntington, Christine (Ted) Chidester, Spring Creek, Nevada, and Diane Lansford, Castle Dale; son, Melvin Marshall, Huntington; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; step-children, Carl Ray Jackson, Tamara Harper, and Darrin Jackson; and sisters, Marie Bates, Soldotna, Alaska and Beth Maxwell of Mesa, Arizona.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; brothers and sisters, Boyd, Darlene, Clifton, Coy, Merlin, Lilace, Jayc, Ann, and Ariel; grandson, Travis Chidester; and son-in-law, John Lansford.
Funeral Service, Thursday, May 30, 2024, 11:00 a.m., Emery Ward Chapel (70 North Center Street) in Emery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Emery Town Cemetery.
