The Price City Council met again on Wednesday, May 29, for their regularly scheduled council meeting. Facing the council members on the agenda included items like the upcoming 2nd annual Price City Mayor’s Walk scheduled for Saturday, July 27, and a potential referendum for the continuation of the city’s zoological, botanical, recreation and cultural (ZAP) tax.
Kicking things off was a discussion with Sara Braby about the aforementioned Price City Mayor’s Walk. Braby stated,” The point of this is to encourage people to be active, but to also encourage them to connect with the community.” The walk also includes a swag bag for those who attended, as well as a free breakfast. The Council expressed appreciation to Braby for helping plan this event.
Next on the agenda was Elizabeth Nelson, who was representing the Price City Youth Council to present on the H.O.P.E through the arts event set for Wednesday, June 19. The Youth City Council was requesting a fee waiver for the use of the City Hall Conference room for two classes for the event. The waiver was approved unanimously by the council following a brief discussion, with the council also offering to help the Youth City Council with things such as printing flyers and other advertising.
After this, the next agenda items both had to do with the City Library. The first was to establish a job description for the different library employees. The other was to adopt an updated employee promotion career ladder for Library Coordinators and Library Aides. Both items passed unanimously upon a vote by the council.
Following this it was a resolution to approve or deny a referendum for the continuation of the city’s ZAP tax. Again, a brief discussion among the council members led to the motion being passed unanimously.
After this, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting for the council is scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, at 5:30 p.m. in Price City Hall.
