Paige Anderson from the Eastern Utah Community Credit Union (EUCCU) sat down with Castle Country Radio to talk about the credit union’s Make the Grade Program, which gives kids from first through 12th grade a dollar into their savings account for each “A” grade they earn.
Anderson opened by giving a brief explanation of the program saying,” The idea is that any student from elementary to middle school and high school can come in, bring their report cards in, and for every “A” they have, we put a dollar into their account.” Anderson then explained the other half of the program,” For every dollar we give for the “A’s” we also give a ticket for our make the grade drawing for the end of the year.”
After this, we dove a little deeper into what these drawing prizes are,” For our younger students, who are up to sixth grade, the drawing will be a movie night pass for the whole family. For our older students who are seventh grade up, we have Splash Summit season passes.” Anderson informed us.
With the drawing being held for these big prizes soon due to school ending, we asked Anderson if there was still time to turn in grades and enter the drawing.” Yes absolutely, we are accepting report cards until Friday, June 14. So you’ll have until then to enter that drawing.”
Rounding out our interview, we talked about how this program helps students stay motivated in school and focused on their education. “ As a part of our community outreach at EUCCU, we spend a lot of our energy making sure we’re not only a part of the community, but in the community.” Anderson delved further into this saying,” This is one of those programs we set up because we know how important education is.” So we offer this as a way to reward students who are putting in the work and putting in the effort, as well as hopefully encouraging students to get engaged and take more into their schoolwork than just getting it done.”
Report cards can be turned in at EUCCU located at 675 E 100 N in Price, 125 East Main in Castle Dale or 860 South Main in Moab, but you must have an account with EUCCU to participate. EUCCU can also be reached by phone at 435-637-2443 or on their website located here.
