Summer is here in full swing in the Carbon County Area, and with that comes the start of Price Culture Connection, a weekly free concert series being held in Washington Park in Price, Utah. Kicking off this series is Peter Breinholt, who was also able to join our conversation and talk about his upcoming show on Thursday, June 13 at 7 p.m.
Kicking off our conversation, Event Organizer Layne Miller explained what Culture Connection is,” Culture Connection is music in the park. It started as locals playing music for locals, and that got popular, so now we’re bringing in groups from outside the area. And it has become a real mainstay of what we do in the summer in Price.”
Next, we talked about the approach to selecting musical acts to come perform at the events. “With the name Culture Connection, we’re trying to bring culture to Price. So we try to cover a whole bunch of different stuff and if you don’t like one week, come to the next!” Explained Event Organizer Ted Hinckley.“I like to have that broad approach where every week is different, and it’s going to resonate with somebody out there.”
After this, we talked about this week’s performer, with Hinckley singing praises about Breinholt,” When people come out and see this show, they’re going to know he hasn’t performed a dozen times, he’s performed hundreds if not thousands of times.”
Breinholt then spoke, speaking of his excitement for the event,” When Ted Hinckley comes calling, you don’t say no.”
We then asked Breinholt about his music, namely which of his eight albums were his favorite.“Well it’s a bit cliché, but our very first album. It was kind of a surprise hit for us because we didn’t know what we were doing.” Breinholt explained,” When I wrote those songs I didn’t have a strong identity, so I was trying everything.”
Next Breinholt explained why people in the area should be excited about the show.“I think we’ve been at it long enough that hopefully we know how to grab people’s attention you know? And shows like this are casual enough you can just come to hang out, and we love that kind of show.”
Closing out the interview, Hinckley left us with this message,” I think it’s going to be a great summer, and I can’t think of a better kickoff for Culture Connection in its new location in Washington Park.”
Price Culture Connection is held Thursdays throughout the summer starting June 13th 7 p.m. and running until 8:30 p.m. in Washington Park. A full schedule of upcoming concerts in the Carbon County area can be found here.
