Thayde LaRelle Jones, 80, of East Carbon, Utah returned home to his loved ones on June 7, 2024. LaRelle (as he was known to everyone) was born on September 6, 1943 to Lynn Jones and Fern Hunsaker Jones. He met and married the love of his life, Carol Jean Porter, on January 6, 1962 in Kearns, Utah. Together they welcomed four children. They settled in East Carbon and LaRelle worked as a coal miner to support his family.
LaRelle loved spending time outdoors teaching his children and grandchildren everything he knew about hunting, fishing, and camping. LaRelle had a love for this area and the history it offered. He loved exploring the land and learning about it along the way. He loved telling stories to whomever would listen to them, which was usually everyone, because he was a natural story teller and had such crazy stories to tell. He enjoyed working on vehicles and helped many people figure out what was wrong with their cars. LaRelle was a self-taught musician. He loved pickin’ guitars and singing with friends around the front rooms or the camp fires. He loved his family and we’re sure the reunion with them was amazing and long overdue.
LaRelle is survived by his three children: Ward (Lisa) Jones, Clawson, Utah; Cody Jones, East Carbon, Utah; Corrina (Hank) Mitchell, Roosevelt, Utah; 10 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, his brother, Kyle Jones, East Carbon, Utah; and brother-in-law, Ben Mead, Wellington, Utah.
Preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Porter Jones; daughter, Shelly Jones; parents, Lynn Jones, Fern Hunsaker Jones Mecham, and step-father Klell Mecham; sisters, Myrna Mead and Ravenna Firth; and brothers, Randy Jones and Reggie Jones.
