The All-State selections for the 2024 softball season we’re released Thursday by the Deseret News. Seven Lady Spartans earned honors for their play.

The Spartans ended the season with a 21-8 overall record and finished 10-4 in Region 12 play. Making it all the way to the title game but falling to Grantsville 11-8 in nine innings.

The 3A player of the year was awarded to Elise Smith, a junior second basemen from Grantsville. Payten Bytheway, also of Grantsville was given playoff MVP honors.

A pair of Lady Spartans earned first team honors. Brooklyn Ekker, a senior, who batted .451 this season and had an On Base Percentage (OBP) of .491 , and Katelyn Nielson a junior this season, batted .469, with a .510 OBP, while collecting nine home runs.

Three Spartans garnered second team honors. Senior Shannon Johnson, who played first base for Emery, Kallee Lake, a junior pitcher and Kali Jensen, another junior who covered third, all collected awards.

Madi Bunnell, a senior who patrolled center field, and Rheagan Rhoten, a junior, who spent time in front of and behind the plate both earned honorable mentions.

The 3A-All State selections were voted on by the coaches throughout the classification.
