
With the end of the high school sports season comes awards and accolades, and Friday morning the Deseret News released the All-State awards for the 2024 baseball season with four Spartans earning honors. The 3A-All State selections were voted on by the coaches throughout the classification.
The Emery Spartans went 17-13 overall finishing their Region 12 schedule with a 7-7 record, Emery also held the No. 8 spot in the final RPI of the season. In the post season they started off with wins over American Leadership and Grantsville, but it came to an end with back-to-back losses at the hands of Canyon View and Morgan.
Wade Stilson added to his list of All-State honors with a first team nod as a shortstop and pitcher. Stilson had a .534 batting average, with a .616 on-base percentage, a .795 slugging percentage and 43 stolen bases. Stilson also earned second team nods this season for football and basketball. Mason Stilson, also a senior who spent time at second base earned a .398 batting average to go along with a .550 on-base percentage, a .500 slugging percentage, 31 stolen bases and a .941 fielding percentage.
Mason Stilson also earned a first team nod, finishing the year with a .398 Batting Average and a .500 Slugging Percentage to go along with 41 runs and 30 stolen bases.
Senior Kade Larsen, who played catcher for the Spartans collected second team honors for his efforts this past season. Larsen had a .359 batting average with 26 RBI’s.
Trevin Gilbert, a junior, was given an Honorable Mention for his work on the mound as well as first base. Gilbert batted .329 with 18 RBI’s and had a 3.73 ERA with a 2-1 record.
Juab’s Austin Park was named Mr. Baseball, an award that includes all classifications in the state, and Peyton Marx of Union collected both 3A Player of the Year as well as Playoff MVP for 3A.
