It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Rita Anita Kirby on March 27, 2024. She transitioned peacefully in Winston Salem, NC where she moved to from Arizona just two years ago. She surely will be met in eternity with those family members who have passed before her.
Rita Silvagni was born on October 12, 1929, with a twin, Anita, who would live less than two years, and was received into a big family full of Silvagni’s and Grako’s. Stanislao (Tony) Silvagni and Clara Teano Grako Silvagni provided a loving home for Rita and her siblings, Louis, Johnny, and Berlinda Grako, along with her younger sister, Kay Silvagni Quillinan, who survives her.
Rita graduated from Carbon High, moved to Salt Lake City and eventually moved to San Francisco where she met and married Bill Kirby. Although that union didn’t last, they had three boys, Kevin, Michael, and Patrick who loved her dearly, despite being too rambunctious at times, to say the least.
In moving north from SF to Marin County, Rita worked for over 40 years for the County School system, retiring to Arizona in 2005. She loved to play golf, traveled extensively and had the pleasure of being around her grandchildren (Angie, Talya, Briana, Kyle, Weston, Scott, Ryan, and Lisa) as well as her great- grandchildren (Frankie, George, Paul, Madeleine, Joey, Charlotte, and Caroline). Living in Arizona also offered the benefit of being near her lifelong friend, Vivian Grako, as well as nieces and nephews (John, Ann, and Paul) and their extended families.
We invite those who knew her to join us for a Memorial Mass on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church (210 North Carbon Avenue) in Price at 10:00 a.m. The Committal Service will follow in the Price City Cemetery following the mass. There will be a luncheon following the services at the Notre Dame Hope Center (185 North Carbon Avenue) in Price at 11:30 a.m.
To all of you that we have written, texted, or spoken to, your presence and support means the world to us, Rita was certainly one of a kind, and her friends and family will all miss her.
In love and remembrance, Kevin and Linda Kirby, Mike Kirby and Barb Siaroff, and Pat Kirby.
