Castle Country Radio had the opportunity to sit down with Lesa Miller from Huntington City to talk about the city’s upcoming Heritage Days Celebration which gets started on Friday, June 28, with the Huntington Heritage Days Rodeo and runs until Thursday, July 4.

The celebration features a wide variety of events, including performances from the likes of Hypno Hick and Charley Jenkins. Miller promoted the festivities by saying,” This is free entertainment so bring your lawn chairs and blankets …It’s a great time.”

On Wednesday, June 3, the city will host a Cornhole Tournament, which Miller spoke on saying,” It’s $30 a team, with sign-ups starting at 6 p.m. with a $600 added money prize.”

Next, we talked about the Fourth of July parade held every year for the celebration. Performing the duties of Grand Marshals at this year’s rendition will be Thelma and Jerry Livingston.

The big closing event at this year’s celebration will be a performance by Charley Jenkins at Canyon View Middle School starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. “He’s always a big draw,” Miller said of Jenkins,” he comes every year and the crowd always loves him.” The performance is scheduled to end at 9:45 p.m., with fireworks following immediately afterward.

Miller closed our interview with one very simple statement,” Come out and play, it’s a great celebration.”
