
Summer is in the air and so are small-town celebrations. Heritage Days will be taking place this week, and next week, East Carbon is getting ready for Community Daze on July 13; before that, on July 12 Sunnyside will get the 73rd Annual Sunnyside Rodeo off and rolling.
Held at the picturesque Sunnyside Rodeo grounds the event is looked forward to every year, and this year is setting up to be remembered as well.
Last weekend they crowned the royalty for this year starting with Queen Madalynn Whimpey, her attendants are Kenley Taylor the first attendant, and Katrina Manzanares second attendant. McCall McElprang was the princess.
Diamond H Rodeo will provide the stock this year, and call-ins will begin on Tuesday, July 2 from 3-7 p.m. by contacting Alyssa Hebdon at 435-764-0064 callbacks will be on Wednesday, July 3 at the same time.
There will also be plenty of fun before the rodeo starts. At 6:30 there will be Jr. jackpot barrels with three different age groups, followed by mutton bustin starting at 7:00. And during halftime there will be a chicken chase and a dash for cash for the younger kids and for the older kids and adults, there will be a buddy barrel race and a hide race.
Admission is just $10 for ages 18 and up, $5 for ages 7-17 and kids 6 and under are free.
