Each month Castle Country Radio likes to spotlight an organization within the community that is doing a lot of good. For July, we direct the spotlight to the Genesis Pregnancy Center (GPC), a nonprofit that, according to their website,” is committed to providing a safe place for those in need of information and support during pregnancy and beyond. We desire for every client to feel welcomed, respected, and encouraged.”

Castle Country Radio sat down with Monica Lambert from the GPC for a deeper dive into the organization.

Opening our conversation, Lambert gave an overview of the GPC,” We offer hope and compassion to the people of Carbon and Emery counties. We do this by educating and empowering the people that come through our doors.’

After this, Lambert gave a deeper explanation of the different programs and resources the pregnancy center offers,” We have free pregnancy tests. We also have options counseling, which includes evidence-based information about adoption, abortion and parenting; as well as covering the physical and emotional aspects of each option. We believe everyone should be able to make an informed decision without pressure, distress or regrets later.”

One of the standout programs that the GPC offers is their “baby bucks” program,” You earn baby bucks by coming to our classes. We have prenatal classes that cover the first, second and third trimesters because when you’re pregnant you want to know what’s going on not only with you and your body but also with your baby. We also do labor and delivery classes, and we also have our fatherhood series …” Lambert continued,” When you attend these classes you get points, and those points are the baby bucks. They are used in our store to purchase things like diapers, wipes, maternity clothes, car seats, high chairs and other things you’ll need starting as a parent.”

Next, Lambert talked about what people should expect when they walk into the center,” They should expect to be welcomed warmly. We have a motto here,” We love you where you are.” A lot of times it’s scary being pregnant and not knowing what’s going on, and we understand that.” Lambert also explained the approach from employees of the GPC,” All our services are confidential, so we try to calm people down and look at things more objectively, letting them know they are in control.”

GPC has a few upcoming events later in the year to look forward to,” We’re having our second annual walk for life, this year we’re going to have it in the first part of Sept.” Lambert stated, “ And then in the first part of December we’re going to have a banquet.”

Bookending our interview, Lambert explained how to get in touch with the GPC,” For confidential appointments or to become a monthly donor, visit our website at gpcenter.org, or you can find us on Facebook. You can also call us at 435-637-5683.”

The Genesis Pregnancy Center is located at 836 E 100 N, in Price, Utah.
