Our beloved husband, father, poppy and friend, Edward Eugene Doporto, 79,  passed away peacefully Monday, July 8, 2024 in Sunnyside at his home while surrounded by his family.

He was born February 11, 1945 in Oak Creek, Colorado to Melchor and Emma Mercado Doporto. Married the love of his life Corrina Martinez on March 19, 1965 in Denver, Colorado; they later moved to Sunnyside, Utah.

Together they raised two loving children and are blessed with six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one additional great-grandson on the way.

Eddie enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his family and friends.  He loved going to Mesquite with his family and playing bingo.  He also enjoyed taking his two dogs for their daily walk.

Eddie retired from Kaiser Coal after 30 years of service.  He was a proud member of the UMWA Local # 9958.  He had several other jobs where he created friendships and bonds with all whom he came in contact.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife Corrina of 59 years; daughter, Kristy (Donald) Candelaria; grandchildren, Desirae Trujillo, Ciarra (Salvadore) Lopez, Christopher (Francisco) Candelaria, Danielle (OC) Doporto, Kenny Doporto, Jr. and Kandice Candelaria; great-grandchildren, Deajia, Fenix, Xzavien, Ava and Kamryn; brothers, David (Marcella) Doporto and Richard (Sandy) Doporto; sisters, Evelyn (Jim) MacLean and Eleanor (Larry) Watson; sister-in-law, Gloria (June) Sasaki and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by son, Kenny Lee Doporto; parents, Melchor and Emma Doporto; in-laws, Joe C. and Margaret Martinez; brothers, Melchor, Jr. (Rose), Michael (Diane), Robert (Vicki) and Daniel; and sister-in-law, Sandra (Khalid) Sheikh.

Eddie was a devout member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am, and Mass will be celebrated directly following the Rosary. Committal service, East Carbon City Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Eddie online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net

Our thanks and appreciation to the many doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, U of U Medical Center and the Hospice team who cared for our beloved Poppy.
