After a bustling week that featured 18 live performance events to attend due to Price City’s International Days, the city’s weekly Culture Connection concert continues for another week of live entertainment this week featuring the Rachel Rivers Band on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Castle Country Radio sat down with event organizers Ted Hinkley and Layne Miller to talk about last week’s festivities, as well as what to expect when Rachel Rivers comes to town.
International Days is a big hit for the community, providing families with fun and entertainment throughout the celebration. Miller spoke on the turnout for the live entertainment stating,” We had huge crowds in the park and we always do, but I think this was extra busy. And we had what I believe is the best party band we’ve ever had at Culture Connection or anything on Saturday night.” Miller continued,” They were fabulous. And then right after that was the drone show and we had thousands of people to watch.”
One aspect of Culture Connection is that it’s a way to not only bring well-known talent to the area but also a way for up-and-comers to gain experience performing and for locals to hear new talent. “I was at a thing and I heard Rachel sing and man, she just kind of has a once-in-a-generation voice,” Hinckley explained. “not only is she a great physical voice, but she’s great at her songwriting … and you know we better get her in on a Culture Connection now because one day she’s going to be too big to sing for Culture Connection, so we’re getting in on the ground floor here.”
After this Miller sang praises to Hinckley, stating,” Not only does he bring in well-known bands, name bands. He also brings in some new talent. And that’s exactly what we like about Culture Connection. Get in the good stuff, the stuff we know, and bring in somebody new too.”
With a new act like the Rachel Rivers Band, a lot of excitement comes with their arrival, Hinckley spoke about what he is most excited for, ” One thing I always notice is whether people sing in tune or not, and she has perfect pitch, but it’s just such a great voice.”
Closing out our conversation, Miller and Hinckley took the time to thank the community for their continued support of the event. “We are so excited to do Culture Connection and we are so appreciative of the crowds that we’ve been getting. We’ve been filling the park and you can tell when people are having a good time and they’re having a good time.”
This week’s Culture Connection will take place on Thursday, Aug. 1, starting at 7 p.m. in Washington Park. For more information on this and future events, you can visit Price City’s website or Facebook Page.
