Summer is starting to wind down, with kids getting ready to return to school and residents bracing themselves for the colder fall and winter months. Unfortunately, the end of summer does mean the conclusion of this year’s Price Culture Connections, with this week marking the last event in Price for the season. Castle Country Radio sat down with event organizer Layne Miller to talk about the upcoming concert as well as what’s next for music in the Carbon Corridor.

Opening us up, Miller talked about last week’s showstopping performance from the Rachel Rivers Band,” What a talent and fabulous voice. You know, I could say she might have the best voice of the summer.”

Miller then looked to the upcoming Culture Connection, which will feature country, rock and American group the Wayne Hoskins Band,” They’re listed as another party band.” Miller explained,” It’s a style of music that locals love. If you want to draw a crowd, you either do country or you do rock. And that’s what we’re going to hear. They’ve written a lot of their music and they’re a band that’s been around for a long time. They’re touring right now and just happened to be available so the stars kind of aligned to get these guys.”

On the group’s Facebook page, they are self-described as,” The Wayne’s Country Americana sound is reminiscent of Keith Urban and Tom Petty on a Red Dirt road “ something which the residents of Carbon County can relate to.

“I think the thing for me is it’s the kind of music that I enjoy.” Miller stated,” And it’s the kind of music that is popular here so I can’t wait to see how the crowd is.”

But it’s not over with this week. One more week.” Miller shared,” This time we’ll be in Helper, the opening of the Arts Festival with the McKayla Paige band, who won the County Fair Battle of the Bands.”

Closing out our conversation, Miller spoke on the environment at Culture Connections this summer,” I think the environment that you feel when you’re in the park in your best shady spot, and there’s a lot of them, there’s nothing better.’

This week’s rendition of Culture Connections will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 in Washington Park in Price. For more information, you can visit Price City’s website or their Facebook page.
