David Allen Johnson, age 60, passed away August 5, 2024 after a lengthy illness with his loving family by his side.
He was born February 14, 1964 in Price, Utah to Allen David and Glenda Faye Abel Johnson. He married the love of his life, Diana Lynn Allred, on December 11, 1982 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.
The couple were blessed with two children and five grandchildren. His granddaughter Bentleigh was the apple of his eye and gave David the reason to fight so hard while going through dialysis. He and Bentleigh always had special lunch dates, calling her his “Beautiful Lunch Date.” They also loved swimming together and their bond will never be broken.
David was 18 years old when he began his career with UDOT. He was the supervisor at the Wellington shed and ended his 30-year career at the Colton shed where he was respected by all.
Diana and David were foster parents for 17 years. They were so beloved that those who lived with them kept in touch years after their departures.
David shared the love he had for the Denver Broncos with his daughter Shaylynn and was a season ticket holder for 13 seasons. He made many fun memories with his friends and family cheering on his beloved Broncos at Mile High Stadium. He also was always searching for the next “best” restaurant, and he and his son Tyler loved trying them out together.
More than anything, David was generous, and his family would say to a fault. He would give to those in need, including the shirt off his back, if necessary, as long as it wasn’t a Denver Broncos jersey! He will be missed by his family and a community of friends.
David is survived by his loving wife, Diana; children, Shaylynn (Shay) Montag, Tyler (Kayla) Johnson, both of Price, Utah; three granddaughters, Bentleigh, Melanie and Rylie Johnson; two grandsons, Zaiden and Bryce Montag; brothers, Mikel (Valerie) Johnson, Price, Utah, Kevin Johnson, Long Beach, CA; sister-in-law, Darla Cloward, Price, Utah; brother-in-law, Doug (Lynette) Allred, Price, Utah; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Glenda, and Gertrude Johnson; brother, Evan Johnson; sister, Rebecca DeRose; mother and father-in-law, Jerry and Margie Allred.
The family would like to thank Michelle from Community Nursing Services and Tiana from Symbii Home Health and Hospice, and both of their staffs. Additionally, they would like to thank Adam Callahan, Dr. Eppich from the Price dialysis center, Kate, his dialysis nurse and special friend Rajens for always being there for David. Lastly, a special thank you to all those who visited David before his passing.
The family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington, where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of David online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
