William “Bill” Stirling Ivie, 85, passed away in the early morning hours of August 11, 2024 at his beloved home.

He was born February 18, 1939 in Price, Utah to Louie Fred and Irene Wilson Ivie.  On February 19, 1960 he married his sweetheart, LaRene Collard in Huntington; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on February 13, 1965. LaRene passed away on May 21, 2014.

Bill was a longtime resident of the area who was deeply proud of his home up Huntington Canyon and enjoyed running his cows on the summer range at Mud Water.  Bill lived for family and farming. He dedicated his life to the simpler things in life; such as riding, roping, horses and caring for loved ones.  He was a past President of the Eastern Utah Rodeo Association, Club Advisor for the Emery High School Rodeo, and a member of the Adult Riding Club.  Bill was a mentor to many and he shared a wealth of knowledge on roping with all.  Bill’s advice was simple, it was Bill’s way or the highway.  Bill was passionate about team roping and he was proud of his “short thumb.”  Bill would oftentimes tell the kids that he lost his thumb because he picked his nose.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Bill wore many hats during his life and he loved visiting with friends and family.  Bill never met a stranger, and he was honored to share his friendship and knowledge with anyone he met.  Bill was a friend to all and was a proud retiree of Energy West at the Central Warehouse in Orangeville, with 28 years of service.

Bill is survived by his loving children, Kip (Brandi) Ivie, Joel (Kathy) Ivie, Wade (Tina) Ivie, all of Huntington, Tayne (Pam) Ivie, Houston, TX, Monte (Jill) Jensen, Becky (Jon) Richens, both of Price; brothers-in-law, Gene Brown, Elmo, Duane Collard, Huntington, Ross (Kathryn) Collard, Riverton; sister-in-law, Lynell Nielson, Huntington; 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, LaRene Ivie; sisters, LaRee (Neldon “Pete”) Noyes and Patsy Brown; brother-in-law, Ken Nielson; sister-in-law, DeAnn Collard and infant great-grandson, Beckett Dean Ivie.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of Symbii Home Health and Hospice, especially to Becky Richens and Tiana McElprang for their unwavering care of Bill.  We would like to thank Judie Mangum for special visits and luncheons shared with our Dad.
