Carbon girl’s soccer got back on the pitch Tuesday when they welcomed the Union Cougars to town. Coming off their big win over Millard, the Lady Dinos were eager to get back to work taking the shutout win over the Cougars 2-0.

Last week they handed Millard an 8-0 loss getting the season started on the right foot. Tuesday they got to play in front of the home crowd for the first time this season.

Carbon jumped out taking the lead behind goals from Blythe Bradford and Bailey Johnson each scoring a goal in the first half.

In the second half, the Lady Dino defense came on holding the Cougars scoreless with Madi Barlow collecting the shutout for Carbon.

Bradford and Johnson each scored a goal in the win while Barlow collected her second shutout this season with seven saves. Malia Smith assisted on both goals in the win.

Carbon will be on the road Thursday when they travel to Mount Pleasant to face the North Sanpete Hawks in a region tilt. Last season Carbon won both meetings, 5-0 in the first contest at Carbon and then a double overtime thriller with the Lady Dinos taking a 3-2 win at North Sanpete.

Carbon will be back home on August 22, when the Juab Wasps come to town.
