
After a 13-3 loss to Wayne on the road, Pinnacle got to play in front of the home crowd to take on the Wendover Wildcats. A big 11-run opening inning propelled the Panthers to a 16-1 win ending the game in four innings.
Pinnacle went on the road to face the Wayne Badgers, having a rough outing falling to the Badgers 13-3. Joey Howell earned a pair of hits and scored two runs, Carlos Alcon and Dominick Huitt both had one hit in the loss.
On Friday they were back in front of the home crowd to face the Wendover Wildcats.
Things started in the first inning as Joey Howell hit a single to the shortstop and then advanced to second on an error by the first basemen. Carlos Alcon was the next batter up and hit a single to center to bring Joey Howell in. Alcon would steal second and third, finally scoring on a passed ball, and with two strikes and two balls, Brody Howell would reach on a single and then advance to second on another error. Huitt came up to the plate and after four straight foul balls, hit one for a single reaching second on an errant throw by the second baseman that also allowed Brody Howell to score. Bryson Shumway came up to bat, drawing a walk but not before Huitt scored on a passed ball putting the score at 4-0. Riley Davis came up, and during his at-bat, Shumway advanced on a passed ball had a steal, and then came home on another passed ball, Davis would walk. Dominik Vigil would walk and Davis scored on a passed ball. Joey Howell came up to the plate with two on and sent a fly ball to left for an inside-the-park home run to increase the lead to 9-0. The next batter up was Alcon who earned a single with a fly ball to right field. Brody Howell sent a double to left scoring Alcon. In the next at-bat, Brody Howell scored on a passed ball and Huitt would draw a walk to put the score at 11-0.
Things got quiet for Pinnacle until the bottom of the third when Huitt got on base after being hit by a pitch, Alcon scored from third and Brody Howell advanced to third. Shumway was the next batter and sent a fly ball to left scoring Brody Howell putting the score at 13-0. Davis made it to first on a bunt and then because of an error Huitt and Shumway both scored. The inning came to a close two batters later with the score at 15-0.
The Wildcats scored their only run of the game in the fourth inning. In the bottom of the inning, with Joey Howell on Alcon came to the plate sending a grounder to first that allowed Joey Howell to come home and put the score at 16-1 to end the game in four innings.
Cristian Alcon collected three hits, scored three runs, and earned two RBIs for the Panthers. Brody Howell had three hits, three runs scored, and drove in one. Joey Howell had two hits with three RBIs and scored three. Shumway and Davis both registered a pair of hits and an RBI with Shumway scoring twice and Davis once. Huitt ended the day with a hit, a pair of runs scored, and one RBI in the victory.
Joey Howell had a great outing on the mound as well, giving up one hit, one earned, and striking out seven.
Next on the schedule for the Panthers is the Green River Pirates, as they come to town on Wednesday.
