017-15

The Lady Dinos had put together three straight wins to start the season, outscoring their opponents 17-0 in those contests. On Tuesday, they traveled to Cedar City to take on the Canyon View Falcons. The Falcons entered the game with a 2-2 record and jumped out early and held on to take the 5-3 win handing the Dinos their first loss of the season.

Carbon sits at 3-1 overall now and 1-1 in Region 12 action with a lot of soccer left to be played.

Canyon View jumped out in the first half to hold a 3-1 lead at halftime. The two teams played even in the second half each scoring a pair of goals, but Carbon couldn’t get over the hump as Canyon View did just enough to hold on and take the region win.

For the Lady Dinos, Mailia Smith kept on scoring, adding two more to bring her total to 9 on the season which puts her firmly in the top 10 in the state. Blythe Bradford added one to round out the scoring for Carbon.

Up next is a meeting Thursday, a home region contest with Juab. Last season in both meetings Carbon won both contest by the same score 4-0.
