Inga Dickerson, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 22, 2024 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah.
Inga was born in Hofheim, Germany on December 23, 1957, to Rosa and Manuel Maestas. When she was a small child, she moved in with her grandmother and grandfather in Dragerton, UT. “Kika” raised her in Dragerton, where she eventually met a young single father, Walter Dickerson. On April 30, 1977, she married Walter and shortly after adopted Marty and Terri. Early in the marriage, they took on several foster children, giving them a safe and loving environment. The last foster child that they had in their home, Jenifer, was eventually adopted and became part of the family. A few years later, there was a surprise, and Eric was born. Then a few years later, Christopher was born. And years late, Tianna, Lily, and Kiira Dickerson were adopted bringing the children count total to eight.
Inga was a homemaker for most of her life, lovingly taking care of all the children. She went to work for RUCD HeadStart, first in the kitchen and eventually getting her college degree in early childhood development before working in a classroom. She left HeadStart to be with the younger three girls. When the girls started school, she went back to work at Bruin Point Elementary to be closer with the girls. She eventually went back to being a homemaker to take care of her life partner, Walter, until his passing in October of 2023.
Inga is survived by her brothers, Manuel Maestas, Danny (Ruth) Maestas, Ernie (Becky) Maestas; and her children, Thomas (Dalene) Dickerson, Terri (Rick) Paulk, Jenifer Dickerson, Eric (DeAnne) Dickerson, Christopher Dickerson, Tianna Dickerson, Lily Dickerson, and Kiira Dickerson; along with her ten grandchildren, whom she loved with every bit of her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her grandparents, Jose and “Kika” Maestaz; parents, Manuel and Rosa Maestas; sisters, Ellen Rich and Naomi Martinez; and her first granddaughter, Kaitlyn Dickerson.
