The Utah Jazz lost arguably their biggest fan on August 27, 2024, when Arden Willard Sherrill passed away at the Garden Square Assisted Living Center in Casper, Wyoming.

Born on October 13, 1938, in Castle Dale, Utah, Arden’s life was a testament to his deep love for his family, his community, and his Church. He never met a stranger, and his outgoing and gregarious nature serves as a testament to how he lived his life. His legacy will be felt through the lives he touched and the warmth he shared.

Arden was married and sealed in the Manti Temple to Reida Diane Benson on September 9, 1960. After Reida’s death in 1996, he was blessed with a second love in Carolyn Jewkes Watkins, whom he was married to for over 23 years before her passing in 2021.

Arden loved the outdoors. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and photographer. He also enjoyed riding ATVs around the Green River area, spending time with his family, and watching every Utah Jazz game ever played.

Arden was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Louise Seely Sherrill; his wives, Reida Diane Benson and Carolyn Jewkes Watkins; his twin sister, Arlene (George) Weihing; his sister, LaRae (Dave) Fullmer; and his granddaughter, Amber Lee Jereb.

He is survived by his children, Peggy Louise (Ken) Jereb of Casper, Wyoming, Ray Reid (Sandie) Sherrill of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jodi Marie (Lani) Stradling of Spring Creek, Nevada, Arden “Bryan” (Kari) Sherrill of Moses Lake, Washington, Eric Lloyd Sherrill of Ramstein, Germany; stepsons, Roger (Lynae) Watkins of Mesa, Arizona, Mark (Marlene) Watkins of Roosevelt, Utah, and Bevan (Charla) Watkins of Vernal, Utah; sister, JoAnn (Bob) Wetherington of Green River, Utah. He was also the proud grandfather to 32 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
