
Malia Smith added two more goals to bring her total to 18 this season, but it wasn’t enough as the No.5 Lady Dinos fell to the No. 3 Manti Templars on the road Thursday afternoon. The loss dropped Carbon to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in region play.
Smith topped Cyprus’ Susana Avila Chavez by one goal to sit atop all classifications for goals scored this season.
At the end of the first half, Carbon had the advantage of scoring two goals and holding Manti to just one, as the Lady Dinos took a 2-1 lead into halftime. In the second half, the tables turned, and Manti was the aggressor, holding Carbon to just one goal but finding the back of the net on three different occasions to take the lead and the win, 4-3.
Bailey Johnson scored a goal and earned an assist, to go along with Smith’s pair of goals. Emma Bowman had an assist in the loss.
Carbon will get back on the pitch twice next week on Tuesday they will make the trip to Castle Dale to take on the No. 18 Emery Lady Spartans, game time is set for 4:00 p.m. On Thursday they will host the No. 6 North Sanpete Lady Hawks in Price with a game time of 4:00 p.m. also.
