The Emery Spartans continue to show vast improvement on the golf course, lowering their team score for a fourth consecutive week Thursday afternoon at the Canyon Hills Golf Course in Nephi.

Shaving five strokes off last week’s season low performance, the Spartans ended with a team score of 326, finishing fifth in the field of eight teams. Carbon earned its first team win of the season after shooting an outstanding 295, defeating juggernaut Richfield by four strokes. Juab’s 301 and Delta’s 320 rounded out the top four.

Dempsey Toomer posted the Spartan’s low score with a 78. Alex Hansen and Champ Justice both shot 82’s to give Emery its second and third scores. Bronx Olsen brought in the fourth score with an 84.

Since shooting a 356 in the season opener back on Aug. 13, the Spartans have continued to improve each week. The team will have another shot to climb into the top four when Region 12 play resumes next Thursday at the Sunset View Golf Course, the home site for the Delta Rabbits.
