On Saturday, Aug. 31, an antique miner’s cap was stolen from the Helper Museum. The hat, which was found in the Wattis mine, is valuable to the area, and both museum officials and local authorities are searching to recover the artifact.

Officials believe that the hat was stolen on Aug. 31 before the museum closed for Labor Day. On Tuesday, Sept. 3, museum workers noticed that the hat was missing.

Roman Vega, the museum’s curator, shared the following during the Helper City Council meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5,” Chief Draper has done a good job of spreading the word. The story has been picked up statewide and covered by Fox 13 and KSL, who Chief Draper interviewed. I just hope whoever took it comes to their senses and returns the cap.”

If you have any information regarding this theft, please contact Price Dispatch at 435-637-0890 and reference Helper City Police Department case number 224239.
