
Edwin George Shook passed away on September 12, 2024 in Price, Utah surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 23, 1940 in Riverside, California to Lucille Bassett-Shook and Raymond Kennedy Shook.
Ed will be remembered for his faith in God and love of family and friends. He married Patricia Gibbons in 1961, later divorced. He married Lisa Hamm in 1988. Ed loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He was grateful for the family he gained when he married Lisa, adding beloved brothers and sisters along with many nieces and nephews. Ed also had many close friends throughout his life and career that he regarded as family.
Ed was a graduate of Corona High School in California where he played trombone in the band. He attended Chaffey College and then proudly served four years in the US Air Force stationed in California, Alabama, and Panama. Ed was a reserve Peace Officer in Corona and worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company when he transferred to Price, Utah in 1979. In 1980, Ed began his law enforcement career serving the citizens of Price. He taught a crime scene investigation class at the College of Eastern Utah and retired as Lieutenant with the Price City Police Department in 2002.
When his boys were young Ed enjoyed coaching Little League. He enjoyed music, model railroading, golf, exploring old railways in Utah, and reading books among many other hobbies and interests. Ed was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Temescal Lodge #314 F. & A.M. in Corona, California and served as Master in 1970. When he moved to Utah he served as a member of Joppa Lodge #26 and Carbon Lodge #16.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; children, Eddie Shook of Prescott Valley, AZ, Shelley (Ronnie) Bogdin, Dani (Keny) Seals, and Christina (James) Hislop all of Price, UT; grandchildren, Cassandra (Jesse) Sandgren, Delia Shook, Brielle (Jaren) McCourt, Brenna (Adrian) Sanchez, Isaiah Kobe, Faith Kobe, Joel Birch, and Theo Seals; great-grandchild, Rooke McCourt; sisters-in-law, Linda (Lon) Brown, Marilyn Cramer, and Anita Rivas; brother-in-law, Jim Witte; and lifelong friend, Ray Russell.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lucille Shook; son, Raymond Shook; sisters-in-law, Sharon Witte and Barbara Hamm; brothers-in-law, Danny and Johnny Hamm; and lifelong friend, Judy Russell.
The family would like to thank all the close friends and neighbors that helped Ed during his later battle with Alzheimer’s. They would also like to thank Adam Callahan, Dr. Cam Williams and all the nurses and staff at Symbii Home Health.

Funeral service, Tuesday, September 17, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main St.) in Price, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Price City Cemetery.
